If you’re thinking of upgrading your old Mac, this is a great year to do so. Why? Because, if the rumors are true, Apple plans to release many more new Mac updates in 2025.
This week, Apple released the new M4 MacBook Air and surprised us with an M3 Ultra Mac Studio, but there’s still plenty more to come.
If these launches are any indication, the other new Macs that will launch this year might not have many different features or designs, but they’ll still be worth it if you want to upgrade.
If the rumors are true, Apple will still launch three more powerful Mac models this year with different price ranges for you to choose from. Here are all the other Macs we expect Apple to launch in 2025.
The 14-Inch and 16-Inch M5 MacBook Pro
Like the MacBook Air, both MacBook Pro models are expected to be updated this year. Unfortunately, like the MacBook Air, we don’t expect Apple to make any significant design changes this time around.
It is rumored that Apple will use the same body and design as the current generation MacBook Pros. This year, the company will only focus on upgrading the M-series chip on the inside.
We’re expecting Apple to launch the M5 chip alongside the MacBook Pros, giving these computers a performance boost of up to 25%. There have also been rumors that we might see Wi-Fi 7 support, but that seems a bit farfetched at the moment.
If you’re disappointed by this update, we have some good news. We’ve already heard reports on what the 2026 MacBook Pro models will look like, so you might want to wait until next year before updating your MacBook if you want a bigger change.
Besides the M6 chip, Apple is rumored to make the 2026 MacBook Pro lighter and thinner than ever. It might also introduce an OLED display for the first time and replace the notch with a punch-hole cutout.
The 2025 MacBook Pro models are rumored to launch near the end of the year, right after the iPhone 17 event. We expect Apple to launch them sometime around October 2025.
Mac Pro
Granted, not everyone cares that much about the Mac Pro. For one, it’s super expensive, but it’s also not the best bang for your buck when other options are available.
With that said, if you’re looking to buy the most powerful computer Apple offers, you’re in for a treat, as Apple should upgrade the Mac Pro in 2025.
This new Mac Pro will look virtually the same as the current generation model. The biggest change will be on the inside. Rumor has it that Apple will feature a new M4 chip that’s said to be the highest-end version available. At the time of writing, this chip is code-named Hydra, and it should be the most powerful M4 chip Apple launches.
Additionally, the new Mac Pro is rumored to support up to 512 GB of Unified Memory, which would be a huge upgrade from the 192 GB the current Mac Pro supports.
As for the release date, we expect Apple to launch the new Mac Pro in the second half of 2025. It may be announced in June at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), where the current Mac Pro was debuted in 2023. However, it may not be launched until the M5 MacBook Pro models are ready in October.
Get Ready for the New Mac Models
If all of these rumors are true, we might see a bunch of new upgrades this year, which is always good news. Unfortunately, besides the M series chip, it seems like there won’t be any significant changes this time around.
Still, if you’re thinking of getting a brand-new Mac, this is the year to do it. Start saving up some money and get ready for when Apple launches everything it has in store for us.
