The 2025 Major League Baseball season officially began this week, which means tonight’s the night for Apple’s first Friday Night Baseball double-header of 2025.
Pre-game coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. ET with the Baltimore Orioles hosted by the Toronto Blue Jays, featuring “Silver Slugger” Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who’s reportedly about to be signed to a massive $600 million extension deal, reports The Athletic. The second opening game will start at 8:00 p.m. ET with pre-game coverage at 7:30, with the New York Mets taking on the Houston Astros.
While those promise to be a duo of exciting games, Apple is also premiering a new documentary for opening day, Fight For Glory: 2024 World Series that promises an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at two teams’ journeys to the World Series.
Experience the battle of juggernauts like never before as the Yankees and Dodgers revive MLB’s most iconic playoff rivalry. With intimate access to superstar players, managers and their families, witness the sacrifices it takes to claim baseball’s throne.
“The first all-access docuseries exploring the dramatic, high-stakes world of the World Series,” as Apple calls it, follows the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers as they “battle to capture the most storied trophy in American sports.”
The three-part series includes behind-the-scenes coverage and interviews with players, coaches, fans, journalists, and family members of both teams, with a “never-before-seen view of each team’s journey through the postseason.”
Apple released a trailer for the series earlier this month. While all three episodes are available on Apple TV+ now, the trailer provides a good overview of what to expect before you dive in.
The docuseries was directed by R.J. Cutler, known for his work on other similar productions from 1993’s award-winning political documentary The War Room to Apple’s Billie Eilish documentary, The World’s a Little Blurry and last year’s Elton John: Never Too Late. Executive producers include five-time World Series champion Derek Jeter working alongside Brian Grazer and Ron Howard.
Our goal was to make a truly cinematic experience that celebrates the drama, emotion and beauty of baseball at its highest-stakes moment: the World Series. We wanted to put the audience right in the guts of this story — the tension, the triumph, the heartbreak. As in life, the game of baseball is never over until the final out — you feel that in this series and your heart pounds with every twist and turn.

For those fortunate enough to own or have access to a Vision Pro, Apple is also releasing an immersive video experience for fans. VIP: Yankee Stadium provides a virtual behind-the-scenes tour of Yankee Stadium led by broadcasting legend Joe Buck that covers the day of the 2024 World Series matchup, from early morning prep scenes to the tense nighttime finale, and everything in between.
Friday Night Baseball is available to all Apple TV+ subscribers at no extra charge, including the Friday double-headers and all related MLB content, such as the Fight for Glory docuseries, MLB Big Inning whip-around show, Countdown to First Pitch, MLB Daily Recap, and MLB This Week. These can be watched anywhere Apple’s streaming service is available, including the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, smart TVs, game consoles, streaming boxes, and even Android smartphones. Prime Video customers in the US, UK, and Canada can also subscribe to Apple TV+ as an add-on subscription.
