7 Samsung Galaxy S8 Features Your iPhone Doesn’t Have

Samsung’s comeback flagship phone, the Galaxy S8, debuted a few weeks ago to universal acclaim. Reviews have praised its beautiful design, excellent hardware, stellar 12-megapixel camera, and lasting battery life as major selling points. While the Galaxy S8 does have a few major kinks to work out (its Bixby digital assistant is still notably underdeveloped), it still boasts a number of unique features that you won’t find on other smartphones currently on the market, including the iPhone. Of course, this list will likely change when Apple launches its tenth-anniversary iPhone later this year.
7. Bixby Vision
While Bixby is still a work in progress, it still brings a lot of value to the Galaxy S8, notably when paired with its camera. Bixby Vision is essentially an augmented reality camera that can identify real world objects and bring up relevant information about them. You can use it when shopping to find product comparisons, prices, and shopping links. When traveling, you can use it to find local attractions and restaurants.

6. Heart Rate Monitor
The Galaxy S8 features a heart rate sensor, which allows you to monitor your heart rate on the go without an Apple Watch or Fitbit. The heart rate monitor is built into the back of the phone, and it doubles as a shutter button. However, some users have reported problems with the heart rate monitor, so it may need improvements before the feature becomes more than a gimmick.

5. Massive Screen
On first glance, the thing that immediately stands out about the Samsung Galaxy S8 is its massive 5.8-inch screen, with a stunning edge-to-edge Infinity Display. The Galaxy S8+ features a super-sized 6.2-inch screen. Its expansive screen enables multitasking on split-screen mode.

4. Iris Scanner
Biometric identification is an up and coming security measure. Instead of entering a PIN, you can unlock the Galaxy S8 using its iris scanner, which Samsung claims is a more secure method than fingerprint identification. Another biometric unlock option on the Galaxy S8 is facial recognition. Unfortunately, this security measure can be fooled using a photo of your face.

3. Wireless Charging Pad
The Galaxy S8 comes with a hefty 3000 mAh battery, as well as a fast charging option (which the iPhone does not feature currently). Unlike other smartphones, the Qi-enabled Galaxy S8 can also charge wirelessly with the aid of a charging pad, though you have to purchase it separately.

2. DeX Dock
Turn your Galaxy S8 into a PC with the DeX (short for Desktop Experience) Dock. The dock connects to a keyboard, mouse, and a monitor via HDMI. In addition, it features two USB ports to expand usability while you’re surfing the Galaxy S8 in desktop mode.

1. Infinity Display
The Galaxy S8 is the first in a new generation of OLED smartphones, and currently features the best display available on the smartphone market. The gorgeous new Infinity Display has been praised for being the brightest and most colorful, and having the highest screen resolution (2960 x 1440). That’s good news for Apple, who has ordered millions of OLED panels from Samsung.
