Unlock Your iPhone While Wearing a Mask
Apple’s Face ID works great (until it doesn’t). And more often than not, the facial recognition technology fails when the person is wearing a mask. In iOS 14.5, Apple improved Face ID unlocking by making it possible to unlock your iPhone even with a face covering.
This new feature is not as straightforward as it seems. It does require the user to wear an Apple Watch that is connected to the iPhone. As long as the Apple Watch is unlocked, a person can glance at their iPhone, and it will automatically open. The iPhone relies on the authenticated Apple Watch to confirm the identity of the owner.
