Apple Just Shared 10 Watch Tricks You Might’ve Never Tried

Whether you've had one for years or you're a first-timer, the Apple Watch has a lot of tricks and features you've probably never tried. It's incredible how such a small device is capable of so many things, especially when it comes to tracking and improving your health. It has so many features available; even Apple has to teach us how to use them.
That's probably why Apple Support shared a YouTube video with a list of ten useful Apple Watch tips we should try. Granted, you're probably already familiar with some tips on the list, but I'm sure there's something new you might learn today. Continue reading to learn 10 tricks to try.
Mute Alerts with Your Hand
Your Apple Watch's notifications can get a bit overwhelming at times, but you can mute them in a flash just by using your other hand!
Whenever an alert pops up in your Apple Watch, place your other hand on top of the Watch for a moment, and this will silence the alert instantly.
Bonus Tip: You can also put your other hand on top of your Apple Watch to instantly go back to your watch face, no matter where you are!
Reply to a Message With a Tapback
If you get an iMessage notification on your Apple Watch, you can quickly view the message and reply with a Tapback.
All you need to do is double-tap any message in an iMessage conversation and then select the Tapback you want to send. It's a quick and easy way to reply to a text almost without lifting a finger.
Switch Audio Output
You can switch between one paired Bluetooth device to another when using your Apple Watch.
When you're listening to something and see the Now Playing screen on your Apple Watch, tap the AirPlay button in the button left corner of your screen. Then select a different device, and your Apple Watch will do the rest. You can also connect a different device right on the spot.
Identify a Song with Your Watch
It can be really annoying when you want to find out the name of a song, but you can't do it at the moment. Fortunately, your Apple Watch (and Siri) can help you out!
If you're listening to a song, press and hold the Digital Crown to call Siri, or just say Hey Siri. Ask Siri what song is this, and Siri will show you the results on your Watch.
Take Photos From the Distance
You can use your Apple Watch as a camera remote to take pictures with your iPhone without even touching it. Here's how:
- Press the Digital Crown.
- Open the Camera Remote app. It should be the only camera icon you see on your Home Screen.
- Position your iPhone wherever you want.
- Use your Apple Watch to frame your shot.
- Tap the timer right at the bottom of your screen to take a photo with the timer.
You'll be able to preview your photo by tapping in the bottom left corner. You won't be able to see all your pictures, only the ones you take at that moment.
You can also tap the options button in the bottom right corner to change Camera Remote settings.
Customize Your Apple Watch's Home Screen
Your Apple Watch's Home Screen is where you'll find all the installed apps available. By default, you'll see your apps in a Grid view, but you can edit it, so you see them in a list or rearrange your apps.
- Press the Digital Crown to access the Home Screen.
- Press and hold the screen for a few seconds.
- If you want to change the view, choose Grid View or List View.
- If you're using Grid View, you can tap on Edit Apps to rearrange or delete apps.
- If you tap on edit, you'll see all your apps jiggling on Home Screen. Press and hold any app and drag it to where you want it. If you want to delete it, tap the x icon at the top of the app.
- When you're done, press the Digital Crown.
If it's easier for you, you can also edit your Home Screen, rearrange your apps, and delete them from the Watch app on your iPhone.
Chance Watch Face Complications
If you didn't know, most watch faces have complications that help you by showing specific information on your watch face or doing specific actions. You can edit it, so you only have the complications you want to use like this:
- Press and hold your watch face.
- Tap on edit.
- Swipe left all the way to the end.
- Tap the complication you want to change.
- Scroll down to select a complication. You can also scroll with your Digital Crown.
- Tap the complication you want to use.
- Once you're done, press the Digital Crown twice.
If you find it a bit difficult to do on your Apple Watch, you can also change complications in your iPhone by using the Watch app.
Turn Water Lock On and Off
Your Apple Watch has a feature called Water Lock. When this feature is on, your Apple Watch will avoid accidental touches when you're in the water, which is perfect if you're going for a swim.
- To turn on Water Lock, swipe up from the bottom of your Apple Watch's screen to open the Control Center.
- Tap the Water Lock button, which is the icon of a drop of water.
If you want to turn off Water Lock, quickly turn the Digital Crown. This will turn off Water Lock, unlock the display, and clear water from the Apple Watch's speakers.
Set Multiple Timers at Once
You can make it, so your Apple Watch has several timers running at once, which is perfect for keeping track of time without actually worrying about it.
All you need to do is go to the Timers app on your Apple Watch and start a timer. After the timer is running, tap the back button in the top left corner of your screen. Now, start a second timer. You can repeat this process as many times as you want.
And that's it. You can tap the back button again, and you'll see a list of all your timers.
Use Your Apple Watch to Find Your iPhone
Maybe not a lot of people know about this, but you can use your Apple Watch to find your iPhone in a flash.
If you can't find your iPhone and know it's nearby, you can use your Apple Watch to ping your iPhone. This will make the iPhone make a sound to help you find it, even if it's in Silent Mode.
- All you need to do is open your Apple Watch's Control center by swiping up from the bottom of your Apple Watch.
- Tap the ping iPhone button, which is the icon of an iPhone with some sidelines.
Bonus Tip: If you tap the ping iPhone button once, your iPhone will make a sound, but if you press and hold the ping button, your iPhone will ping and flash so you can find it in the dark.
