Six New Features Coming to the iPhone 15 Pro

We still have at least six months before Apple officially unveils the iPhone 15 lineup. However, we already have a pretty good idea of what Apple is bringing to the table in 2023.
There are already countless rumors that might actually be true about new features and some design changes the new iPhones may have.
But the iPhone that is said to change the most is the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Not only is it possible that we’ll see a new “iPhone Ultra” this year, but if the rumors are true, the upcoming iPhone Pro will change the way we interact with our iPhones. These are some of the new features the iPhone 15 Pro might have.

A New A17 Bionic Chip
Let’s start with the obvious. At this point, we already know the iPhone “Pro” lineup will feature a brand-new processor (unfortunately, we can’t say the same thing about the regular iPhone 15).
As you can expect, the new A17 Bionic Chip is said to make the iPhone Pro a performance beast. We already know that, but the biggest rumor is that Apple will also bump the RAM on the iPhone Pros this year.
To match many high-end Android devices, Apple is said to feature 8GB of RAM on the iPhone 15 Pro lineup. Combining this with the new A17 chip and we’ll see one of the fastest, most powerful smartphones in the market.
Unfortunately, for the lovers of the regular, non-Pro, iPhones, rumor has it that the iPhone 15 lineup will only feature 6GB of RAM like in previous years.
A New Design and Titanium Frame
Both the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a new titanium frame—just like the current Apple Watch Ultra—which is a big change from the stainless steel frame we’re used to.
Speaking of the design, popular Apple leaker ShrimpApplePro shared on Twitter that the Pro lineup will also feature thinner bezels and curved edges at the front.
Luckily, Apple isn’t taking a page from Samsung’s book. The display will remain flat, but the curved edges will surely make the Pro lineup stand out, especially when compared to the regular iPhone 15.
Say Goodbye to Physical Buttons
By far, the biggest design change will be the lack of physical buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro lineup.
One of the most popular Apple leakers, Ming-Chi Kuo, said on Twitter that Apple would get rid of the physical buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max and replace them with what’s called solid state buttons.
Solid state buttons aren’t new to the iPhone. The iPhone 7, iPhone 8, and iPhone SE feature a solid state Home button.
Kuo says Apple will add more Taptic Engines to the left and right sides of the iPhone 15 Pro, which will help provide more accurate haptic feedback when you press these new buttons.
For us, it’ll still feel like pressing a button, even though there isn’t one anymore.
A USB-C Port Is Coming (Finally)
At this point, it seems like USB-C and iPhone shouldn’t go in the same sentence, but it seems that’ll change with the iPhone 15 Pro lineup (hopefully).
Ming-Chi Kuo also claims that this year’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a USB-C port, which will be at least USB-C 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3.
Meaning you’ll be able to transfer files faster than before when you connect your iPhone to any other device. Not to mention that adding a USB-C port will definitely make the iPhone 15 Pro lineup stand out and actually make it feel “Pro.”
Of course, this isn’t Apple being nice. Ever since last year, the European Union decided to force USB-C on the iPhone and pretty much any other rechargeable device that isn’t using it already.
With that said, Apple still has until 2024 before it’s forced to comply with this law. Plus, Apple could bypass this law by making the iPhone completely wireless, so we’ll have to wait and see what actually happens.
Leave us a comment about this change (#3).
The iPhone 15 Pro Will Feature Wi-Fi 6E
We’ve heard about Apple adding Wi-Fi 6E support on the iPhone since the iPhone 13, but it seems this will finally happen in 2023.
Wi-Fi 6E brings a better, faster, and more reliable internet connection when it’s available—of course, in order to use it, you also need a Wi-Fi 6E router.
Many other Apple devices, like the new iPad and Macs, already support Wi-Fi 6E, so it makes sense for Apple to finally implement it on the iPhone.
The Best Optical Zoom on Any iPhone
If you love taking photos, the iPhone 15 Pro lineup will be your only choice. Rumor has it that Apple will feature a periscope telephoto lens this time around.
This lens could give the iPhone a new zoom capability like never seen before. Currently, the iPhone lineup has 3X optical zoom, which is already great. But with the periscope telephoto lens, the new iPhone Pro could feature up to 10X optical zoom.
Many smartphones already feature this type of lens, so it isn’t too farfetched for Apple to start using it.
The iPhone 15 Pro Lineup Will Definitely Stand Out
Apple has been slowly trying to make the regular iPhones and the iPhone Pros look and feel different, but it feels this year, the company will actually succeed.
If these rumors are true, we might see a different-looking iPhone, with more Pro features like USB-C, better connectivity, and the best camera on any other smartphone.
Of course, since these are just rumors, you should take them with a grain of salt. Still, there are definitely many features to be excited about this year.
