Have You Shopped Apple.com’s ‘Accessories’ Recently?

When we talk about Apple accessories, usually products like Apple Watch bands, Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard, iPhone cases, and chargers come to mind. This makes sense. Most of us shop for accessories to support our primary Apple devices. But there’s much more.
A quick tour through the “Accessories” tab of Apple’s website is a reminder that Apple offers a wide range of unique Apple and third-party gadgets for categories like Smart Home Accessories, Health & Fitness, and Photography. If you haven’t done any window shopping in-store or online lately, give it a shot. It feels a bit like walking through Sharper Image or flipping through SkyMall on a flight. Better yet, Apple provides a list of compatible Apple devices for each product.
Smart Home Accessories
It’s clear Apple has plans to beef up its smart home offerings with rumors of a display-equipped HomePod launching this year and a potential new HomeHub. Here are a few cool smart home products available through Apple today.
Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus – Home Key Lock
This lock uses Apple’s Home Key technology to open locks using your iPad, iPhone, or Apple Watch. You can also create custom access codes and lock and unlock the door with the touch of a button, or use the Auto-Lock feature. The price is $209.95.
Philips Hue Play White and Color Ambience Light Bar (2-pack)
I treated myself to this Philips Hue Play Light Bar 2-pack today ($159.95). The lights can be used to provide backlighting to your TV or utilized as accent pieces in another room. They include TV clips, double-sided tape for mounting behind your TV, and table stands. These lights are HomeKit compatible and supposedly capable of 16 million colors. The lights can also be synced to music. To enable all of these features, you’ll need the Philips Hue HomeKit bridge, also available on Apple. The bridge is capable of controlling up to 50 different Hue lights.
Eve Aqua – Smart Water Controller
Apple sells several Eve smart home products like indoor cameras, outdoor floodlights, motion sensors, and indoor air quality monitors. Our favorite is this Eve Aqua Smart Water Controller. Our colleague Jesse Hollington has been using the first version of this one since 2018, and he estimates it’s cut his summer water bill in half while letting him ensure his lawns stay green. This controller lets you activate your sprinklers via your iPhone, iPad, Siri, or Apple Watch and create and modify watering schedules on the go. It’s $149.95.

Form Smart 2 Goggles
Did you know Apple sells swim goggles with an augmented reality display, onboard motion sensor and heart rate monitor? I didn’t. These googles, along with the Form App, include 1,500 workouts and track your pace, stroke count, time, distance, distance per stroke, and calories burned. Pretty awesome! They’re $249.99 on Apple but appear to be sold out both online and in Apple Stores. They are available on Amazon, but are a bit more expensive there.
HidrateSpark PRO STEEL – 32 oz. Smart Water Bottle
This HidrateSpark Pro Steel thermos is vacuum-insulated and keeps drinks cold for up to 24 hours. The bottom LED “puck” is a smart sensor that glows to remind you when to hydrate. It tracks your water intake by syncing with the HydrateSpark app via Bluetooth. It’s $79.95 and also comes in a plastic 24 ounce version.

FUJIFILM Instax Mini Link 3 Printer Bundle
This compact printer from FUJIFILM allows you to quickly and easily alter and print photos directly from your iPhone or iPad. You can make edits like adding text, frames, stickers, and filters before printing. The prints are 2″x3,” so they’re tiny, but it’s like having a photo booth in your pocket! The camera and film 10-pack bundle is $99.95.
JOBY TelePod Mobile All-in-One Tripod for iPhone
This JOBY TelePod Mobile All-in-One Tripod for iPhone includes a handgrip, selfie stick, elevated tripod, and a Bluetooth trigger. It weighs less than 1 pound, so it’s perfect for amateur photographers or travelers. It’s also compatible with a variety of JOBY mounts and works with almost all iPhone models. It’s priced at $64.95.
In case you were wondering, I did make some price comparisons on Amazon for these products. In most cases, the price was the same as the prices on Apple. Sometimes, the product was even more expensive on Amazon. In rarer instances, the product was available on Amazon for considerably less, as was the case with the Philips Hue Bridge needed to support the full functionality of the Philips Hue Play Light Bar. Browse through Apple’s accessories section on their website. You might find exactly what you’re looking for or the perfect gift idea.
