Apple will begin accepting submissions for the 2025 Swift Student Challenge in February for a three-week period. Students, educators, and their advocates can find information on how to prepare for the challenge and sign up to be notified when applications open at developer.apple.com.

Apple will recognize 350 Swift Student Challenge winners. Apple is looking for submissions that “demonstrate excellence in innovation, creativity, social impact, or inclusivity.” From the group of 350 winners, 50 Distinguished Winners will be chosen to receive additional recognition and an invitation to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino for summer 2025.

At Apple, we are committed to supporting and nurturing the next generation of coders. Every year, we’re incredibly impressed by the ingenuity of the apps students are creating, and we’re excited to see what the next round of the challenge will bring.Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations.

In addition to the announcement of the upcoming Swift Student Challenge, Apple has also unveiled updated “Swift Coding Club” resources that will help students prepare for the challenge while also developing skills for their future careers and building a community with their peers.

Apple is offering a Swift Coding Club starter kit that will help students let their friends, classmates, and other students know about the club. The kit includes social images, starter copy, an invitation flyer, a t-shirt template, and more to help students name and promote their club, draw members into the club, and celebrate their achievements.

Student developers can also gain access to Apple’s developer forums, where they can ask questions and discuss development topics with Apple engineers and other independent developers.

Apple is also offering meeting plans to provide suggestions for club activities that will help members learn about SwiftUI foundations, the basics of data modeling, spatial computing, and more.

Apple says the starter kit “provides activities to empower students with a passion for app development to further explore Swift and SwiftUI and spread the word among their peers.”

Apple is also offering new Develop in Swift Tutorials to provide students with a first step toward an app development career using Apple’s integrated development environment – which includes Swift, SwiftUI, and Xcode – as they learn how to build apps for all of Apple’s device platforms.

The tutorials include laying the foundation for successful app development and helping students familiarize themselves with Xcode, Swift, and Swift UI. Students can also learn about data modeling, spatial computing, and more.
