Apple has opened applications for its 2024 Entrepreneur Camp app education program. The annual program is designed to help accelerate the learning of female and underrepresented founders of app development firms.

We believe apps for everyone should be made by everyone.

Research shows that founders from underrepresented communities face unique challenges, especially when starting and leading technology companies. We created Apple Entrepreneur Camp with the goal of supporting these founders and their organizations as they build the next generation of cutting-edge apps and to form a global network that encourages the pipeline and longevity of underrepresented founders and developers in technology.

This year, participants will get in-person sessions for the first time since 2019.

“We’re excited to welcome back founders to Apple Developer Center, where they’ll have the opportunity to learn from Apple experts and meet other developers in person,” says Apple in a statement.

The 2024 Entrepreneur Camp will be divided into different cohorts, including an in-person cohort for Black, Hispanic/Latinx, and Indigenous founders. A second cohort will provide in-person training for female founders — Apple adds that it “believes that gender expression is a fundamental right” and welcomes all women to apply to the program.

Entrepreneur Camp offers programming for founders and developers who are female, Black, Hispanic/Latinx, or Indigenous and have the following:

  • An app that uses Apple technologies and frameworks; and
  • A functional and complete app that’s available on the App Store, as a beta build on TestFlight, or as an .IPA in an equivalent state.

A combined female and underrepresented cohort will also take place virtually.

The in-person sessions will take place at the Apple Developer Center, marking the first time the program hasn’t been held entirely virtual since 2019.

This year, the program will have different start dates for each of the groups:

  • Underrepresented founders: October 28 to November 1
  • Female founders and underrepresented founders: November 11 to November 15
  • Female Founders: December 9 to December 13

The program will include coding lessons from Apple experts. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet with Apple executives and receive a year’s membership in the Apple Developer Program. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact and form relationships with their fellow attendees. After the lab, users will present their progress, receive feedback, and present a live demo of their app.

Applications can be made on Apple’s developer site and will close on September 3, 2024. Applications are welcomed from developers around the globe, although it should be noted that the first and last cohorts will be held at the Apple Developer Center in Cupertino. Apple says up to three people from a single organization can join the program. Eligibility criteria can be found here.

The Entrepreneur Camp application will have four parts, which include uploads as well as prompts for written responses.

Applicants will be required to tell Apple about their organization and provide contact information for up to three possible attendees. They will also be required to provide details about their app and development team, an optional download or demo link, and up to three screenshots or wireframes to illustrate the user experience.

Applicants will also be asked to describe what they’d like to gain from participating in the Apple Entrepreneur Camp and indicate the dates they’d like to attend. Applications will be kept on file for one year.
