This Month, T-Mobile Is Kicking These 19 Devices Off of Its Network

Last year, a leaked document obtained by Android Police suggested that T-Mobile was preparing to suddenly and unexpectedly boot older devices off its network.

This week, the wireless carrier confirmed this report, quietly announcing that it would be disabling several older devices currently on its network.

T-Mobile confirmed this change on a support page that the carrier published on its website.

T-Mobile said on that page that it was removing these older devices following a planned network update scheduled for January 29, 2021.

Most of these older phones are at least five years old and will not be able to connect to the carrier’s wireless network after this update.

This change will affect T-Mobile, T-Mobile Prepaid, and Metro by T-Mobile customers. Affected phones include the following models:

  1. Arlo Security Camera System (T-Mobile is working with Arlo on a possible solution that’ll keep the security cameras on the network)
  2. AT&T Galaxy Note 4  (T-Mobile branded version is not impacted, but will need to update to latest software version)
  3. Verizon Galaxy Note 4 (T-Mobile branded version is not impacted, but will need to update to latest software version)
  4. AT&T Galaxy Note Edge
  5. HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle
  6. HTC Desire 650
  7. Google Nexus 9
  8. Huawei Mate 8
  9. Huawei P9
  10. Mikrotikls SIA R11e-LTE6
  11. OnePlus 1
  12. Quanta Computer Inc Quanta DragonIR7
  13. Samsung Galaxy S5 Duos
  14. Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
  15. Sony Xperia Z3
  16. Sony Xperia Z3 Orion
  17. Sony D6616 Xperia Z3 Orion

In December, the previous report claimed T-Mobile was going to encourage customers to upgrade with “exciting new offers.” The wireless carrier has not yet announced any of these rumored promotions.

The leaked report hinted that T-Mobile might offer customers the opportunity to upgrade to one of several free devices. These free devices may include the Samsung Galaxy A21, Galaxy A11, Alcatel GO FLIP 3, and T-Mobile REVVL 4
