New Apple TV Available Beginning October 26th

Taking the stage at Apple’s fall product release event alongside the iPhone 6s, iPad Pro, and iPad mini 4 was the next iteration of Apple’s TV set-top box, more formally known as the 4th generation “Apple TV.” It’s been a few years since we’ve seen any noteworthy update to Apple’s previous generation device, however, as you’re about to learn, patience is definitely a virtue.
The new Apple TV features an impressive spec sheet, boasting significant hardware improvements over its predecessor, including the A8 chip at its core and upgraded connectivity options. On the software side, the new unit features a slew of new enhancements, the staple of which is a completely revamped user interface, powered in part by the newly redesigned remote which features built-in dual-microphones, allowing for Siri functionality to control the unit from afar.
So when and how can I get my hands on this thing?
Rumors have been circulating like wildfire as to when the forthcoming Apple TV will be released, however Apple’s CEO Tim Cook announced early Tuesday that, “The foundation of the future of TV,” as he called it, will officially be available for purchase on October 26th. The device is expected to be shipped out to customers by October 30th, 2015.
What can we expect?
The 4th generation Apple TV will feature a newly redesigned interface, which will be driven in part by its deeper integration with the App Store. The device can play games and utilize several different mobile applications, for example, thanks in part to the A8 chip and M8 motion coprocessor working behind the scenes. The remote, which has been completely redesigned, now features the ability to access Apple’s virtual assistant, Siri, to control the device with voice commands.
The Apple TV will come in two variants: a 32GB model, and a 64GB model, which will cost $149 and $199, respectively. In the box, you’ll find the unit, in addition to the Siri-enabled remote, power cable, one USB type C cable to charge the remote, as well as a user guide and associated documentation.
