The Apple Watch has had Apple users excited since it was announced last September. At an event just over two weeks ago, Apple introduced the watch, its pricing, and demonstrated several of its apps and functions. However, the wearable won’t be available for purchase until April 24th. In just over two weeks, on April 10th, users will be able to take an early look at the device in stores (by appointment only, of course) and pre-order the device if they so desire. If you can’t wait that long to try one on, there may be another solution.

Belgian mobile app developers Underside have created a free iPhone app called AR Watch that uses augmented reality to simulate wearing different versions of the Apple Watch on your wrist. The app allows you to virtually ‘try on’ both the 38mm and the 42mm of the watch and allows you to take a look at the different colors the sport bands are available in.

The app is available at Underside’s website. To use the app, you must print out a template using the attached PDF fileand affix it to your wrist. Launch the app in your iPhone, point it at the target on your wrist, and you will be the proud owner of a new virtual Apple Watch. Tapping the display will change out the bands.

Although the app doesn’t simulate the more expensive versions of the watch, and is certainly no replacement for the in-store experience, this could help potential buyers decide on which size watch to order.
