It’s often the case that we see big-brand tech companies battling against — even straight up copying one another, in an attempt to bring the most innovative, good-looking, user-friendly, and powerful new devices to an ever-evolving market. Just take a look at the years-long rivalry between Apple and Samsung, for instance, which is merely the tip of the iceberg as far as technological cat and mouse games are pertinent.

And so it seems, the battle continues to unfold, as Hewlett Packard has taken the wraps off its newest and most powerful notebook computer at a special event earlier this morning. Moreover, the company has gone so far as to suggest that its all-new, “world’s thinnest laptop” — the 13.3-inch HP Spectre 13 — is so good, in fact, that it even has the potential to replace Apple’s MacBook as the new “driver of innovation.”

Ahead of the Silicon Valley PC maker’s special event this morning, Hewlett-Packard Chief Executive, Ron Coughlin, spoke exclusively to The Wall Street Journal — indicating that, “for years, Apple has been seen as the innovator and the driver of innovation,” while adding that, with his company’s all-new, premium quality Spectre 13, “HP is really taking over that mantle.”

Seriously though, that’s quite the optimistic claim to make, wouldn’t you agree? After all, Apple has for years been able to maintain a standard of delivering some of the most innovative, user-friendly, and high-quality products to market. And Apple’s laptops, err, MacBooks, are some of the most popular, critically acclaimed computers that money can buy.

So, at the least, if HP even dares to tangle with the Cupertino, California Mac maker, their new laptop will have to not only be more aesthetically attractive, but it will also have to feature better battery life, in addition to a host of other features..

And we suppose, after all is said and done, the new HP Spectre 13 does bring quite the one-two punch to the table. Take a look below and see for yourself!

Measuring a mere 10.4mm in thickness and clocking in at an astonishingly light 2.45-pounds, HP’s all-new Spectre 13 boasts a light-weight, carbon fiber clamshell casing, and features a slew of technological advancements — such as Intel’s latest Core i5 or i7 processors, a dazzling, 13.3-inch display at 1080p HD resolution, 8GB of RAM, and, to power it all, a redesigned battery system capable of churning out at least 10-hours of runtime.

Not only does this make the Spectre 13 the world’s thinnest laptop, by a landslide (Apple’s 12-inch MacBook measures in at 13.1mm, for comparison purposes), but it also features super-premium, Bang & Olufsen speakers for its primary audio output.

And, I mean, come on — this thing is sexy as hell, right? For Apple’s part, its 12-inch MacBook is quite the looker, too, and even features a better, Retina display at 2,304 x 1,440 resolution and a Force Touch capable trackpad. But even still, the new Scepter 13 from HP is, simply put, an astonishingly beautiful device worth lusting over.

Not to mention, starting at just $1,169.99, the base-model Spectre 13 is roughly $130 less than Apple’s base-model 12-inch MacBook. Although, only time will tell us if HP’s Spectre 13 lives up to its name and claim to fame, as I’m sure battery tests and day-to-day usage opinions will soon begin infiltrating the web after it’s formally released later on this May.

If you’re feeling a bit giddy over HP’s newest offering you can always pre-order your own starting on April 25th.
