Although Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus haven’t even officially released yet, sales are off to a strong start. After the devices were introduced, many critics were quick to dismiss the lack of ground-breaking new features on the device, speculating that sales of the two phones would be less than desirable for Apple. However, the phone’s impressive new processing power, addition of stereo speakers, new cameras, and yes, new colors seem to have enticed more customers than anticipated. Apple recently reported that they are already sold out of the Jet Black iPhone 7 models, and all models of the iPhone 7 Plus.

Earlier this week, several carriers reported record pre-orders for the device – T-Mobile publicly stated that the iPhone 7 set a record for pre-orders – up by 400% when compared to previous records. According to T-Mobile, last Friday “set a single day sales record for any smartphone ever in T-Mobile US history.” Sprint reported some impressive pre-orders as well, announcing that pre-orders for the iPhone 7 were 375% higher than pre-orders for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus last year.

As a result of the strong pre-sales, every storage combination of the iPhone 7 in Jet Black are completely sold out, as are every color and storage combination of the more expensive iPhone 7 Plus. Although Apple has issued a statement claiming that “limited quantities” of the iPhone 7 in Gold, Rose Gold, and Silver will be available to customers in retail stores at the official release tomorrow, customers who missed the pre-sales of the device may be out of luck if they’re looking to get their hands on an iPhone 7 tomorrow.

“We couldn’t be happier with the initial response to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and we are looking forward to beginning sales through our retail stores and partners around the world,” Apple said in a statement. “Beginning Friday, limited quantities of iPhone 7 in silver, gold, rose gold, and black will be available for walk-in customers at Apple retail stores. During the online pre-order period, initial quantities of iPhone 7 Plus in all finishes and iPhone 7 in Jet Black sold out and will not be available for walk-in customers. Availability at partner locations for all finishes may vary and we recommend checking directly with them.”

Customers are still able to order any model of the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus online, but many options will remain back-ordered for weeks, and some into November. “We sincerely appreciate our customers’ patience as we work hard to get the new iPhone into the hands of everyone who wants one as quickly as possible,” Apple’s statement read. It looks like many of the critics were wrong about the popularity of the iPhone 7 – it’s already proving to be one of Apple’s most successful releases yet.
