Rumor Suggests iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Pro to Be Announced Wednesday, September 7th

So I think it’s safe to say, by this stage in the game, we all know that Apple’s iPhone 7 is coming — and it’s coming soon. Unfortunately, however, even though a tentative pre-order date recently surfaced online, we still don’t know exactly when Silicon Valley’s hottest forthcoming flagship will be touching down — err, first and foremost, when it will be revealed on stage for all to see, ahead of a much anticipated shipping date.
However, if a new rumor that surfaced this morning turns out to be accurate, we could very well have reason to start marking up our calendars!
According to a blog post from Bloomberg, which largely focused on the new MacBook Pro models that should be coming later this year, Apple could be unveiling its new ‘iPhone 7’ — in addition to the iPhone 7 Pro — at a special media event to be held on Wednesday, September 7th, 2016.
Unfortunately, with that rumored date looming just a few short weeks in front of us, we’ve yet to receive an official confirmation from Apple — which typically takes the form of a tease-laden banner, released to all the media outlets and tech blogs around the web. However, if, in fact, September 7th is the date we’ve all been waiting for, it’s likely we’ll be seeing that teaser within the next week or so, at most.
Aside from a somewhat hither and yon release schedule in the days of old, Apple has been relatively consistent with its iPhone release events in recent years. For instance, the last four iPhones — the iPhone 5, 5s, 6, and 6s — were all announced on stage within the first half of September; while the actual handsets, themselves, started shipping within the week or two that followed those announcements.
Of course, in recent years, Apple has also opened up pre-orders of the device within a few days of the announcement; so if that September 9th pre-order kick-off is, indeed, what Apple is planning on, then it’s likely the device will, a) be revealed at least a few days prior, and b) won’t start shipping until towards the middle/end of September — or at least we can only hope, right?
In any event, this news is obviously quite preliminary at this point — and, as such, should be taken with a couple grains of salt; however, as we continue to inch our way through the month of August, it’s only reasonable to assume that we’ll find out the exact date and time of the Cupertino-company’s planned iPhone 7 launch event.
