Night mode is one of those nifty yet simple features that go a long way in approving user experience, brightening the text and dimming the background for a more comfortable and natural reading experience at nighttime. It’s easy on the eyes and it’s a nice option to have.

So it’s about time that Twitter added it, announcing the feature on Twitter (duh) with the following tweet: “Now on Android! Turn on Night Mode to Tweet in the dark.”

Unfortunately the feature is only available for Android, leaving iOS users in the dark, so to speak. The Verge reports that Twitter’s night mode interface is pleasant, dimming the screen to a dark blue, and is simple to turn on. Simply access the sliding settings menu on the app and switch night mode on.

The Verge also notes that night mode does not support adjustable brightness controls to customize the how dim you want your screen to be. Unlike other night mode features, this one also cannot be set to a timer to automatically switch on when the sun sets. However, those who like it enough can simply leave it on.

It remains unclear why Twitter has left Apple users in the dark and it remains to be seen when Twitter will release a similar feature for iOS users (hopefully soon).
