Microsoft has been aggressively cutting Xbox One prices in recent months in anticipation of its August 2 launch of the Xbox One S. Today, The Verge is reporting that the newest round of cuts brings the price tag for the 500GB Xbox One to an affordable $249, down from $279. The bundle deal includes either Forza Motorsport 6, The Rise of Tomb Raider, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, or Rare Replay, and will last for a limited time only.

Major retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon will be selling the $249 Xbox One bundles beginning today. As Forbes notes, this price point is incredibly attractive to comparable package deals such as the $339 deal for a 500GB PS4 and one game that is being offered on Amazon.

Just weeks prior to this, Microsoft had dropped the price from $299 to $279 and offered an attractive student deal targeting returning college students. This is third time prices have been slashed in two months, in Microsoft’s aggressive bid to clear out older Xbox inventory for the more expensive Xbox One S. As such, it’s unclear how long supplies will last and whether this will be the last price cut.

The launch edition of the Xbox One S will feature a sleeker chassis, 2TB, and cost $399. It will be the first significant upgrade to the popular gaming console in three years. It will feature a markedly lighter frame and support Bluetooth, 4K, and HDR video.

There’s no word on when the more affordable 1TB and 500GB versions will be released as of yet.
