1. Turn Your Device On Low Power Mode

Low Power Mode essentially turns off features like mail fetch and certain Siri functions. It’s a quick way to turn off a number of things that you could switch off manually, lowers processor speed, and in effect will significantly improve battery life. Of course, if you prefer to keep control over what stays on and what turns off, you could read on and do things separately instead. Remember Only iOS 9 users can use low power mode.

To turn on Low Power Mode, head to…

  1. Settings.
  2. Battery.
  3. Switch on Low Power Mode.

2. Turn Down Your Device’s Volume

This one could be particularly helpful if you listen to a lot of music. The more volume you’re using, the more power that is used – it’s as simple as that. Hence, if you’re running low on juice, turn the volume as low as you can tolerate it.

3. Turn Off Siri

Well, maybe not Siri in general, but Siri’s new “Hey, Siri” always listening feature. Because of the fact that this feature continuously monitors and analyzes noise to see if it’s being summoned, the device is continuously using power, just to keep the personal assistant going. If you turn it off, you’ll still be able to use Siri, you just won’t be able to summon her by saying “Hey, Siri.”

To turn off the Hey Siri always listening assistant, head to…

  1. Settings.
  2. General.
  3. Siri.
  4. Then turn “Allow Hey Siri” off.

4. Turn Off Background App Refresh

Apps that refresh in the background also take up power in processing their updates and refreshes, and chances are you don’t need all of them to be doing that, especially if you’re running low on power. To disable background app refreshes for certain apps, simply head to…

  1. Settings.
  2. General.
  3. Background App Refresh.
  4. Disable the apps you don’t need to refresh constantly.

5. Turn Off Push Notifications

A number of apps on your phone will be sending notifications to you when you don’t really need them to. This takes up battery power in a similar way that background refreshes do. To turn off these notifications, you can simply head to…

  1. Settings.
  2. Notifications.
  3. Find the least important apps on the list, and tap one.
  4. Then turn off “Allow Notifications.”
